In 2011 the Tour de France is very close to the B&B. The roads are good and the police here use a rolling road closure system. It is however possible on the roads that are not being used for the race to get ahead of the riders and also see the finish. The start at Lorient on 5 July is easily reachable being only 42 miles away, approximately 1 hour travelling time. The finish at Mur de Bretagne is a mere 14 miles away, under 20 minutes. The start on the following day at Carhaix on the 6 July, is 16 miles away and takes about 25 minutes. The finish at Frehel is 55 miles so about an hour and 20 minutes. You can of course be more leisurely and just see the finish at Mur de Bretagne and the start in Carhaix the following day. At the time of writing this, the official timings have not yet been released, however local knowledge is that the finish on the 5th will be mid to late afternoon and the start in Carhaix will be between 11am and noon.
If you have never seen the Tour pass through, it is a great atmosphere and would be a great midweek break, or as an addition to your holiday. Early booking is a must for this high profile event.
